Key facts

  • No known physical or mental condition that would interfere with safe operation
  • Pass the 60-question UAG knowledge test with 70% (42 correct)

Who can earn a Remote Pilot Certificate

In order to be eligible to earn your remote pilot certification, you must:

  • Be at least 16 years old;
  • Be able to read, write, understand, and speak the English language; and
  • Have no knowledge of a physical or mental condition that could interfere with safe operation of a small unmanned aircraft.

You must also pass a 60-question multiple-choice aeronautical knowledge exam, which this course is designed to prepare you for, with a passing grade of 70% or better (42 questions correct). This exam is administered at an FAA-approved testing facility and covers 14 CFR Part 107 regulations as well as general knowledge of aviation-related topics.

What you don't need

There is no medical certificate, no flight hours requirement, and no practical (flying) test for Part 107. You do not need to own a drone to take the knowledge test. If you already hold a Part 61 pilot certificate with a current flight review, you can complete a free online training course instead of taking the knowledge test at a testing center.
